Your Family is Cordially Invited on the Unschooling Adventure Cruise!

The idea for this cruise was born out of a personal fantasy....

I love Unschooling Conferences because attending one is like stepping into a dream world for me. A world where children are respected and honored and where families strive for Peace and Joy in all that they do in life.

I thought that it would be so amazing to go on an incredible luxury vacation to a tropical destination, like Bermuda, and to make it even better, surround ourselves with other Radical Unschooling families.
I discovered the "Explorer of the Seas" cruise ship and thought that it was the perfect setting for the first of it's kind, Unschooling Conference on the Seas! I knew that for those of us striving for fun, new experiences, gourmet food, entertainment, tropical beaches, snorkeling, swimming with dolphins... and most of all, being together as a community, this would be a dream come true.

Throw in a couple of passionate Radical Unschooling advocates as speakers and we have 5- days and nights of complete Unschoolers Utopia!

I am happy to present to you all, the first Unschooling Adventure Cruise!

Join us for an experience of a lifetime aboard the "Explorer of the Seas" from October 24th-October 29th, 2009.

~Peace & Love, Dayna

Meet Presenter - Dayna Martin

Dayna Martin
Unschooling Adventure Cruise Organizer

Dayna is a passionate Radical Unschooling Advocate, writer and speaker. Dayna is the proud mother of Devin 10, Dakota 8, Ivy 4 & Orion 1. She has also been happily married to Joe for 15 years. The Martin family lives joyfully together in the White Mountains of NH. The Martin Family live on 43 acres of forest where they play, live & learn everyday.

The Sparkling Martin family blog

Dayna's personal website is Unschooling America and she also founded the non-profit organization Unschooling United.

Sessions Dayna is Presenting:

Nurturing Passions and Interests

Being connected and involved with our children means seeing the learning that takes place in all that they do, not just what society deems "educational". Radical Unschooling means breaking down the walls and limits associated with a compartmentalized life which separates learning into "subjects". True, authentic learning can only come from the freedom to live a life that our children desire, making choices that bring them Joy. Dayna shares how to connect with our children through all of their interests and how to see the learning that takes place in all that they do. During this session Dayna will also discuss how beneficial Unschooling is for not only children, but for parents, by allowing them to heal from an institutionalized childhood and getting in touch with who they really are as individuals. Discuss how to relight our own flames of curiosity by exploring new interests. By parents being enthusiastic about learning themselves children will see that learning through life never ends. Learning is Joyful.

Joyful Partnerships

It is common that one parent comes to understand Radical Unschooling before the other. This can be a challenging aspect of coming to this life for the entire family. During this session we will explore how to respectfully honor where each of you are on your journey to understand Radical Unschooling. It is important to extend the same respect we have for our children to learn things in their own time to our partners when they are learning about this new philosophy. Our children learn so much from how we treat one another. Dayna will share how learning to respect, and not trying to control one another, has helped she and her husband Joe deepen their love for one another and strengthen their connection as a family.

Meet Presenter - Melody Park Shin

Melody is a blessed wife of 14 years to Jae, and a mother to three sweet boys: Gabriel, 11; Mason, 8; and Ryker, 2. Melody has not always practiced attachment parenting or unschooling. She lived a very mainstream life, trusting the doctors and media to have a c-section and a circumcision! This followed by vaccinations, antibiotics and daycare at 12 weeks! Melody is unspeakably grateful for the one connection she did have, which was through breastfeeding. Fortunately, she started to learn more and more about alternative ways of living. Melody was able to quit her job, did extended nursing, and discovered homeschooling as an option. She stopped vaccinating immediately, never circumcised again, and two natural births followed. The third one being a wonderful homebirth in water. Melody is always striving to learn more and to experience more with her family. She appreciates the contrast of the beginning of her motherhood and relishes in the freedom and the joy her family now lives in. Melody delights in her life journey, and loves empowering all moms to connect with their authentic self.

You can read more about Melody's family life on her blog: http://www.melodyparkshin.com/ and sign up for her weekly e-zine, Welcome Home!

Melody is hosting the sessions:

Manifesting Your Dreams!
If you're aware of the law of attraction and have wondered why it's not working for you, you may have limiting beliefs regarding what you desire. Melody will share simple visualization techniques to center your energy with her Reiki master background. She will also share the key ingredient that catapulted her visions into manifestation, which is using EFT (emotional freedom technique) to release limiting beliefs. Melody will go through them so that you can manifest whatever you desire, whenever!

From Waldorf to Radical Unschooling
Melody's boys were happily unschooled, then self-doubt crept in as Waldorf schooling played out its seduction. Wanting the best for her family, Melody went through a three year Waldorf teacher training, founded and ran a lovely Waldorf homeschool program, even shortly worked at a Waldorf kindergarten, and sent her two older boys to a Waldorf school. She ended up pulling them out twice, each time in the Spring. Melody will share her humorous journey as she fully immersed herself in Waldorf and how she got out of it. She will share the profound lesson she learned on the law of attraction (it's not what you think), and how she has made peace by now having even more appreciation and conviction for true joy and freedom in unschooling.

Meet Presenter - Joe Martin

Joe Martin
Joe Martin lives in NH with his wife Dayna and four children. He was a chef for 16 years before discovering a hidden talent....making handcrafted toys. Since his discovery, he decided to completely change the course of his life and follow his new passion. He started http://www.willowtoys.com/ in the year 2000.

Working at home has proven to be rewarding and challenging with 4 children coming in the shop to help him throughout the day. Joe was the featured guest on the Dr. Phil Show in 2007 where he discussed Unschooling and respectful parenting. He dropped some knowledge to the good ole' Dr. and just might have convinced him that Unschooling makes perfect sense!
Joe is a strong advocate for Unschooling, Natural birth, Co-sleeping, Non-vaxing, extended breastfeeding and the rights and respect of Children everywhere. He is also a big fan of video games and heavy metal music as he knows how much someone can learn from embracing their passions in life.

Living Outside the Box
For years Joe hated saying goodbye to his family when he worked outside the home. He also didn't like the role of taking orders from someone else while he made them money. The Freedom and Joy of working for himself became a goal of his and he was determined never to have to say goodbye to his family again. He longed for a life where work and home were intertwined and else , to working for himself. He will help you find your inner calling in life and share with you different ways you too can work for yourself. Working, Learning and Living at home together as a family has been a life of happiness and contentment. Joe will share how life "Outside of the Box" gives families the true freedom they dream of.
Joe is also hosting the Fathers evening at the Aquarium Bar, where fathers will have a fun, layed back discussion about being fathers on the road less travelled living a Radical Unschooling life.

Don't Forget Your Passports!

In a setting of turquoise waters, pink beaches and lush foliage on low hills, this small, subtropical coral island in the North Atlantic sits atop a long-extinct volcanic chain 570 miles southeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, the nearest land. Only twenty-one square miles in area, the island is comprised of many small islets around the Main Island and seven others that are bridged together.

Bermuda is a British overseas territory, so Unschooling Families will need Passports to board our "Explorer of the Seas" Cruise Ship.
